Is Your Pricing Honoring God?

Pricing is a spiritual issue.
Charge too little? Poor stewardship.
Charge too much? Taking advantage.
Where is the line?
What the Bible Says About Pricing
The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him - Proverbs 11:1
Your price is your scale. Is it honest? Fair? Transparent?
The worker deserves his wages - Luke 10:7
You deserve to be paid. Do not apologize for charging what you are worth.
3 Pricing Mistakes Christian Business Owners Make
Mistake #1: Undercharging Out of False Humility
I am a Christian, so I should charge less.
No. Humility is not poverty. Charging below market rate is not generosity - it is poor stewardship.
You have bills. Employees. Overhead. If you underprice your work, you will go out of business. Then you cannot serve anyone.
Mistake #2: Overcharging Because Christians Have Money
They can afford it. They will pay.
That is greed disguised as business. God sees it.
Charge what the service is worth. Not what you can get away with.
Mistake #3: Hiding Your Prices
Call for a quote. We will discuss pricing later. Depends on the project.
Sometimes true. Often a cop-out.
Transparency builds trust. If you can list a price, list it. If not, explain why.
How to Price with Integrity
1. Know Your Costs
What does it actually cost you to deliver this service? Materials, labor, overhead, taxes. Add it up.
2. Know Your Value
What is the result worth to the customer? A plumber fixing a burst pipe is not selling labor-hours. He is selling peace of mind.
Price the value, not the time.
3. Be Transparent
Show your pricing. Explain what is included. No surprises.
4. Serve, Do Not Squeeze
Your goal is to solve problems, not extract maximum dollars. Fair profit honors God. Greed does not.
Real Example
Contractor A: Charged $50/hour (way too low). Could not pay himself. Went out of business. Hurt his family. Hurt his employees.
Contractor B: Charged $125/hour (market rate). Made a profit. Paid employees well. Gave generously to church. Still in business 20 years later.
Which one honored God?
Faithful pricing is not about charging the least. It is about charging what is fair.
In His Service,
